Safety tips
Most listings on FixQuest are from genuine business owners, service providers, and organisations. A few simple habits still protect you whether you are hiring a service or contacting an NGO/CSO.
Important
FixQuest is a directory. We help you find and connect with profiles. We do not process payments between you and a provider or organisation, and we do not mediate private agreements. You are responsible for the deals you make.
1. Prefer verified profiles
Before you engage, check verification status, reviews, and whether the profile is complete. Verified badges mean the listing has gone through FixQuest's checks — they are not a guarantee of every private deal.
2. Confirm identity and scope in writing
Agree what will be done, where, when, and any cost by message or email before you pay or commit. Clear expectations reduce disputes between you and the business, provider, or organisation.
3. Be careful with upfront payments
Avoid sending large sums to someone you have only just contacted. Where the work allows it, use milestones or pay after defined stages. FixQuest does not hold or process payments between you and a provider or NGO.
4. Meet and inspect sensibly
For on-site services, prefer daytime visits in appropriate settings. For materials or physical deliverables, inspect before final payment when you can. Bring someone with you if the engagement is high value.
5. Treat “too good to be true” offers with caution
Prices, donation appeals, or promises far outside the normal range often need extra questions. Slow down and verify before you commit money or personal details.
6. Report anything suspicious
If someone pressures you, asks for unusual payments, or misrepresents themselves, stop the conversation and report the profile. Email support@fixquest.com.ng or use report options where available on the site.
If you’re hiring a business or service provider
- Ask for a clear quote and timeline before work starts.
- Confirm the service matches their listed categories and location.
- Prefer providers with reviews and a complete portfolio where relevant.
- For site visits, arrange a sensible time and place; don't share unnecessary personal information.
If you’re contacting an NGO or CSO
- Confirm the organisation's name, stated programmes, and contact details on their FixQuest profile.
- Be cautious of anyone asking for a “registration fee,” “partnership fee,” or personal payments that are not clearly explained.
- For donations or project support, ask how funds will be used and keep your own record of what was agreed.
- Prefer official channels shown on the profile (phone, email, website) over private pressure to move the conversation elsewhere quickly.
